A life long resident of Kansas City,
Missouri, Charles A. Garney is the Chairman of Briarcliff Development
Company and Underground Services Co. LLC. Parlaying his early
interests in Garney Plumbing Co., Mr. Garney started a very successful
heavy construction company now working in over 20 states. Mr.
Garney is a graduate of The University of Kansas and The Colorado
School of Banking and has owned a number of banks. An
avid outdoorsman, he also raised champion black angus cattle on
his Oklahoma ranch for 35 years.
Mr. Garney and his wife, Patty, have both received many awards including
the Kansas City Spirit Award bestowed by the Gillis Foundation. Mr.
Garney was honored by his fellow citizens as Missourian of the year
in 1996. Mr. Garney was also a recipient of the Northlander
of the Year Award bestowed by the KCI Northland Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Garney is consistently listed among Kansas City's most influential
people by Ingram's Magazine. Mr. Garney is past President of
the Kansas City Area Development Council and Kansas City Crime Commission.
He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Park University. Mrs.
Garney currently serves on the Board of The American Red Cross Greater
Kansas City Chapter and the Advisory Board of M&I Bank located in
Briarcliff II office building. Noted
philanthropists, the Garney's annually host several of Kansas City's
biggest charity events. Mr. Garney is an accomplished jet pilot
and serious student of Missouri history. Six daughters and three
grandchildren are the light of his life. |
